Physician Spotlight

Doctors Anthony Sorkin, Marc A. Zussman, and Andy Blint, advance specialty-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons, have an additional responsibility to incorporate into their busy clinic and surgical schedules: training residents from Chicago's Rush University Medical Center.

With their expertise, experience, and exposure to a varied range of traumas, Sorkin, Zussman, and Blint were selected to annually provide four to five chief residents from Rush with 10 weeks of specialized, hands-on training. By participating in this program at Rockford Orthopedic, the Rush residents gain experience treating traumas such as pelvic and hand injuries, limb reconstruction, and repairing bone injuries that have not healed or have healed incorrectly.

The cooperative program is proving so successful that Rockford Orthopedic is considering the option of additional resident training programs in hand surgery and joint replacement, and a possible postgraduate fellowship program in pelvic and limb reconstruction.
