Work Rehabilitation
Rockford Orthopedic offers a number of services to aid in injury prevention at the workplace and rehabilitation for the injured worker:
Work Conditioning - Rockford Orthopedic Rehabilitation offers a Work Conditioning Program designed to assist injured workers in returning to their previous jobs after sustaining a work-related injury. Participants in the Work Conditioning Program will be issued individualized programs incorporating specific job skills with safe progressions to return the worker to their pre-injury state in order to return safely to work. The Work Conditioning program encompasses the entire body, including: balance, stability, strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, work simulation, material handling, ergonomics and injury prevention.
Functional Capacity Evaluation - Rockford Orthopedic Rehabilitation offers Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) to assist the physician in determining a client's ability to return safely to his/her job. If the client is unable to meet the job's demands, the results of the FCE will assist the clinician in making further recommendations for treatment which may include work conditioning or return to work with restrictions and/or reasonable accommodations. Clinicians at Rockford Orthopedic Rehabilitation utilize the nationally recognized Work Well System for their FCEs. A Functional Capacity Evaluation tests the client's ability to perform various activities such as: lifting, climbing, pushing/pulling, standing/sitting, walking, fine motor skills and balance.
Pre-Work Screening - A Pre-Work Screening is based upon the Functional Job Description. These screens are given to prospective employees post offer and prior to the first day of work. This service can be performed at Rockford Orthopedic, or at the employer's site. The screen is developed following a Functional Job Analysis to adhere to strict ADA compliance standards. The screens will eliminate individuals that cannot perform the job tasks, thus reducing the likelihood of a work related injury had that person started working. Once implemented, the screen must be given to all new employees for that job, including internal transfers. Pre-Work Screenings are also contracted to the employer
Functional Job Analysis and Functional Job Descriptions - During a Functional Job Analysis, a health professional will come to your site to review the job the employer chooses. The job may be one with a high rate of injury, or a newly created position. The analysis requires about one hour of on-site time per job. All critical demands and tasks are analyzed as an expert employee performs the job. The analysis provides a basis for the Functional Job Description where all critical job demands (activities and weights) are listed. Functional Job Descriptions are an ADA compliant document allowing employees, supervisors, and management access to specific information about all critical job demands. The Functional Job Descriptions can also be used to determine light duty tasks for injured employees when the employee is allowed to return to work. This service is contracted to the employer, not through insurance.
