Rx Refill Policy

Prescription refills are made during office hours until 3:30pm only.

For the convenience of our patients, Rockford Orthopedic utilizes e-Prescribing, an electronic request and authorization process that streamlines the prescribing process!

All requests for prescription refills should be made directly to your pharmacist. Your pharmacist will then submit the request for renewal authorization to your physician electronically for approval. Utilizing the e-Prescribing process allows us to reduce response time so your pharmacist can process your refill. Please do not call your physician's office directly for a refill. Contact your pharmacist directly as early as possible in the day for the best reponse.

Controlled Substance Medications

Refills of controlled substance medications will be made only during office hours , Monday through Friday, and either during a scheduled office visit or as determined by your physician. Refills will not be made at night, on weekends, or during holidays. Should you feel that you need a prescription or refill other than during office hours, you may need to be seen in an emergency room and evaluated by the attending physician.

Refills will not be made if you"run out early," or "lose a prescription," or "spill or misplace" your medication. You are responsible for taking the medication in the dose prescribed and for keeping track of the amount remaining.

Refills will not be made as an "emergency" such as on a Friday afternoon because you suddenly realize you will run out tomorrow. You must call at least 24 hours ahead if you need assistance with a refill.

You are responsible for the controlled substance medications prescribed to you. If your prescription is lost, misplaced, or stolen, or if you "run out early," please understand the it will not be replaced.
