Scott W. Trenhaile

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself. I am originally from Iowa. I earned my Bachelor of Science with Distinction in biology at Iowa State University in 1992. I obtained my medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1996.

After medical school, I completed my general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. I then completed an elective subspecialty training program (fellowship) in arthroscopic shoulder, knee, and sports medicine surgery at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

My practice is focused on arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow, and the treatment of sports/activity related injuries. I am a team physician to many local sports teams at the high school, college, and professional levels. These teams include Rockford College and the Rockford IceHogs. Being a team physician gives me the opportunity to work with the athletes regularly.

It is my mission to provide all my patients excellent service, as well as compassionate care. I always strive to provide you the same high quality of orthopaedic care that I would offer to a member of my own family.

In my desire to provide state-of-the-art care to my patients, I remain actively involved in medical education. I serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Midwestern University.

I teach orthopaedic residents for Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Hospital from Chicago, and I assist with Northern Illinois University’s Athletic Trainer Certified Student Training Program. Every year I teach arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery to other orthopaedic surgeons at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Orthopaedic Learning Center. I have given numerous lectures and presentations to my peers at the national and international level.

I am very active in clinical research and have authored text book chapters and international journal articles.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further improve your experience at Rockford Orthopedic. My goal is to provide you the best medical care available.
