Prosthetic and Orthotic Services

As part of our commitment to providing high quality and convenient orthopedic care, Rockford Orthopedic Associates offers comprehensive prosthetic (artifical limb) and orthotic (bracing) services.

Prosthetic and Orthotic Services are directed by John Brinkmann, CPO, LPO, FAAOP, an ABC-certified and state-licensed prosthetist/orthotist with over 20 years of experience. John is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) and a member of the Gait, Lower Limb Prosthetics, and Lower Limb Orthotics Societies.

John's clinical background includes a broad range of orthotic and prosthetic clinical management and fabrication. He received a bachelor of science degree in prosthetics & orthotics from southwestern Medical Center School of allied Health in Dallas, Texas in 1990. In addition to providing off-the-shelf and custom prosthetic/orthotic solutions for patients, he speaks regularly to professional and consumer groups on subjects related to orthotic and prosthetic care.

Phyllis Dillard, Office Administrator, coordinates department administrative responsibilities. She facilitates verification of benefits, billing, insurance coverage, and attends to the day-to-day needs of patients and clinical staff.

Prosthetic Services

Our goal is to help each patient achieve maximum function using his or her prosthesis.  We are committed to providing the most functionally appropriate and cost effective treatment.  We work closely with each patient and their caregivers to maximize recovery and rehabilitation following an amputation.

Immediate Post-Operative (IPOP), Temporary, and Definitive Prostheses

We carefully evaluate the needs of each amputee during all stages of prosthetic rehabilitation.  Treatment protocols and component selection is based on consultation with the referring physician, as well as discussion with the patient and physical therapist regarding the patient's vocational and avocational needs.

We strive to minimize fabrication time to allow for faster delivery of each prosthesis, while maintaining high quality to a timely return to maximum functional.
