Rockford Orthopedic Associates, Ltd., (ROA) was founded in 1967 by Norman Hagman, M.D., and Fred Nathan, M.D. The preferred center for orthopedic care and research for more than 39 dynamic years, ROA has become one of the leading orthopedic centers in northern Illinois.

ROA is a multi-subspecialty orthopedic practice comprised of board-certified physicians. Many of our physicians have completed additional fellowships or subspecializations on a specific area of orthopedic treatment. We take the time to focus on each patient's specific needs. Our orthopedic specialists have a variety of backgrounds, specializing in a specific area of orthopedic care. Each physician has access to the most up-to-date technology in order to administer personalized care, as well as nonsurgical and surgical treatment options.

ROA is committed to continually addressing each and every aspect of patient care, from initial consultation, diagnosis, and treatment, through recovery. Using leading-edge diagnostic capabilities and aided by the dedication of our healthcare team, we help our patients lead active lives through comprehensive orthopedic care.

ROA places a lot of emphasis on promoting orthopedic wellness through community education. Since 1996 ROA has performed osteoporosis screening, and actively participates in patient awareness about this condition. Our physicians are similarly dedicated to medical education and are affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professors. Educational lectures and clerkships are provided to medical students and family practice residents.

ROA believes in providing responsive and high quality care in a cost-effective manner. Our facility boasts of a state-of-the-art Physical Therapy Department, Osteoporosis and Rheumatology Centers, extremity MRI, Dexascan, and an outpatient surgery center which help us continuously monitor and evaluate our treatments to achieve the desired results for each patient.
